As the seasons change, I find myself reflecting on the cycles of life. Fall is upon us, and the leaves are turning those vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow that we wait for all year. They’re starting to fall to the ground now, exposing branches that have been hidden since spring.
So much has happened since then—some good, some challenging. The trees remind me that not everything makes it through to the next season unscathed. Some leaves don’t survive the journey. They get damaged by storms, wither before their time, or simply lose their grip and fall away.
But here’s what I love about nature: it doesn’t give up. This time of year, the trees prepare to rest and refuel. They don’t mourn the leaves they’ve lost; they simply shed what’s no longer needed and enter a season of dormancy. And in the spring, after resting through the harsh winter, they come back full of life—bigger, healthier, and stronger than before. Even the branches that were battered and broken by storms find new growth.
This cycle is something we can all learn from.
The Storms We Face
We’ve all weathered storms in our lives. Whether it’s personal loss, professional challenges, or just the everyday stressors that pile up over time, we lose parts of ourselves along the way. And like those trees, sometimes we emerge from a storm feeling bare—stripped of the things that once gave us shade and comfort.
It’s easy to get stuck in that space, focusing on what’s been lost. But what if we approached life like the trees do? What if, instead of mourning the leaves we’ve shed, we gave ourselves the grace to rest, refuel, and come back stronger?
Embrace the Season You’re In
Our lives have seasons too. We’re constantly evolving, shifting from periods of growth to moments of rest, and sometimes we face a long, cold winter before we feel the warmth of spring again. The key is recognizing the season you’re in and understanding that it won’t last forever.
If you’re in a rainy season right now, know that it’s okay to pause and let yourself recharge. Just as the trees take time to prepare for new growth, you deserve to take time for yourself—to gather strength, heal, and ready yourself for what comes next.
Rest, Refuel, and Come Back Stronger
So, how do we refuel? It’s different for everyone, but at its core, it’s about prioritizing yourself. Take stock of what you need—whether it’s more rest, time to reflect, or even help from others. The most important thing is recognizing that your season of growth is coming, but you have to take the time to prepare for it.
Life will always have its storms. You might lose some leaves along the way. But just like the trees, you have the power to grow back stronger. Embrace the process, trust the timing, and when the time is right, you’ll come back more vibrant and resilient than ever.
Which Season Are You In?
Take a moment to reflect: what season are you in right now? Are you in the middle of a storm, or are you starting to feel the calm after the clouds have passed? Maybe you’re just beginning to rest and refuel. Whatever season you’re in, know that it’s all part of the process, and no season lasts forever.
If you’re ready to talk about the challenges you’re facing and how to come out stronger, I’m here to help. Sometimes, it just takes a conversation to put things into perspective.
